European projects VITES and ADVANCE

ADVANCE and VITES were two European projects of th
fifth BRITE program that have been set-up as
complimentary projects:

ADVANCE did develop simulation technology through
improved knowledge of mechanical phenomena that are
now critical for predictive simulation of vehicles,
restraint systems and dummies, and through
implementation of enhanced features simulating the
phenomena.

VITES did develop procedures and guidelines aiming at
improved acceptance of virtual testing and application
to extend the range of protection. The ultimate goal
is acceptance of virtual testing in regulated or
normative procedures. Procedures and guidelines
developed for virtual testing provide objective
criteria of the quality of models and of the accuracy
and reliability of the virtual test results obtained.

An exchange of results was defined between the two
projects, and tools were developed in cooperation
between the two projects. These tools are embedded in
a common software product: ADVISER, standing for
ADvance and VItes Simulation Evaluation and Rating
tool.
