Lemo Cobol IDE is designed for Cobol
developers. It brings modern development
technologies into the Cobol world.
When working on this tool we pursued the
goal of helping our Cobol developers to
increase their performance. We inspected a lot
of modern development tools and include some of
them into our Lemo Cobol IDE .
The goal of this project is to provide Cobol
developers with a convinient tool for developing
good software. There are many versions of Cobol
in the world (MicroFocus, IBM, UNISYS etc).
Each of them has its own features. We did not
intend to select any particular implementation
of Cobol to build into our tool. We proceeded
from the ISO description of Cobol.
Cobol developers work with different hardware
platforms and operating systems. So we have
selected Java as technology to create our tool
on. Moreover Eclipse was choosen as basis for
user interface. It provides powerful feartures
for building a source editor. Also, it allows
developing heterogeneous applications in different
languages (Cobol, Java, C++ and other) within
the same environment. Eclipse is available for
the most popular platform (Windows, Linux, Unix
etc) so you will not be restricted to using
any particular operating system.
